For sugar syrup:
Sugar – 1 ¾ cup
Water – 2 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Saffron – a pinch
Rose water – 1 teaspoon
For the Gulab Jamun:
Milk powder – 1 cup
Maida – ¼ cup
Oil- 1 teaspoon
Salt – a pinch
Baking soda – a pinch
Curd – 3 tablespoon
Almond – for garnishing
Milk – 1 tablespoon
Preparing sugar solution:
Take a deep pan. Dissolve sugar in water. Boil the syrup until it turns slightly sticky.
Add cardamom powder and saffron into it. Stir well.
If it reaches a 1 string consistency, switch off the flame and add rose water into it. Mix well. Keep it aside to keep it hot.
Preparing gulab jamuns:
Take a bowl and combine maida flour, baking soda, a pinch salt and milk powder. Mix well.
Add enough curd, milk and oil into the bowl. Mix well to make smooth dough. Keep it aside for a few minutes.
Grease your fingers with some oil and then make smooth small balls from the dough.
Add oil in a deep pan. Heat the oil. Add the balls to the pan. And fry until it turns golden yellow color.
Add the fried balls in hot sugar syrup. Soak it for few hours before serving.
It can be served warm or cold and topped with sugar syrup. Garnish the gulab jamuns with sliced almonds.
