Oats Upma
Ingredients
Oats- 1 cup
Oil- 2 teaspoons
Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds- 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves- 6nos
Red chilli- 1
Green chillies – 2nos(finely chopped)
Onions-1/4 cup(finely chopped)
Carrot-1/4 cup (finely chopped)
Green peas- 1/4 cup
salt to taste
Method
Heat oil in a non-stick pan, and add the oats and turmeric powder.Sauté it on a medium flame till it turns light brown in colour.Keep it aside. Heat the remaining oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds. When the seeds crackle, add curry leaves, red chillies and green chillies and sauté on a medium flame for around 1 minute.Add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for around 1 minute or till the onions turn translucent. Add the carrots and green peas and sauté on a medium flame for nearly 2 minutes. Add the oats mixture and salt.Mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, stirring continuously. Add water, cover and cook on a slow flame for at least 5 to 7 minutes.
