In Assam’s Barak Valley, 20 killed in five landslides

About 20 individuals were killed and 12 others harmed in separate occurrences of landslides in Assam’s Barak Valley on Tuesday morning.

The landslides happened in the valley’s of the three regions – Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi – in southern Assam. Substantial rain since Monday morning set off the incidents.
According to reports coming to here, seven individuals each were killed in Cachar and Hailakandi while six individuals lost their lives in Karimganj. The 12 harmed were admitted to neighborhood medical clinics. Most of the victims were in their sleep when the incident struck them. The occurrence in Cachar occurred at Joypur in which a man, his three children, and three daughters were killed. His wife  and one child got away with injuries.
Karimganj had two occurrence, both at Kaliganj. In one of them, a 14-year-old girl was killed. In the other, five individuals from a family – a man, his wife, their two sons, and one daughter – lost their lives. Hailakandi likewise had two incidents. In one incident at Mohanpur, a man was killed. In the other incident at Bhattor Bazar, every one of the six member family – a man, his dad, spouse, two daughters, and one son – were killed. Sources said local people helped the police and authorities of organization in recovering the bodies and taking the injured individuals to hospitals.
