CBI registers case against NDTV Owners : Houses raided.

CBI on Monday registered a defrauding case against NDTV founder Prannoy Roy, his wife Radhika Roy and a company names RRPR Holdings Pvt. Ltd. The case was registered for causing around Rs 48 Crore loss to ICICI bank.

ICICI bank had given a loan of amount Rs 366 crore to Mr Roy on personal guarantee without any collateral. The company to which the loan was passed was a shell company. According to FIR CBI stated “ NDTV and ICICI entered into a criminal conspiracy to transfer ownership of a news company (NDTV) to a shell company, against banking rules, SEBI Act,”. Though the allegations, both the parties, NDTV and ICICI has refused the matter to be false allegation against them.
The raids took place after the News agency criticised the government of selectively targeting the media houses and charity groups to control the freedom of free speech and dissent. In concern to the incident the news broadcasters deeply condemned the Freedom of speech in India. “Entry of police and other agencies into media offices in a serious matter” guild said in a statement. Some of the journalist even criticised the government to be anti-democratic.
