Top court appoints former judge to investigate ‘conspiracy angle’ in CJI issue

The Supreme Court of India has appointed one of its former judges Justice A K Patnaik to investigate the conspiracy angle in the allegation levelled against the Chief Justice of India.

The SC’s appointee is expected to verify the affidavits filed by Supreme Court advocate Utsav Singh Bains.

Earlier, Mr Bains alleged that he was approached by a man seeking his help to file a case against the Chief Justice of India. He claimed that he was offered a sum of 1.5 crore to take up the job offered to him.

The affidavits filed by the advocates try to prove that there is a larger conspiracy to malign the image of the Indian judicial system.

Today, the top court has met the top officials of the Intelligence Bureau, Central Investigative Agency and the Delhi Police to discuss the matter.

The agencies have been asked to assist the SC’s appointee. The appointee has been ordered to file his final report in a sealed cover before the bench which has appointed the former judge as the investigator.

A section of people believe that the allegation against the CJI is a part of the conspiracy hacked by a gang of corporate leaders and bureaucrats.
