Silver Surpasses Apple, Becomes Third Most Valuable Asset
Silver has reached a historic milestone, with a market capitalization of approximately $4.04 trillion, surpassing Apple Inc.’s $4.02 trillion valuation. This makes silver the world’s third-most valuable asset, behind only gold and Nvidia. The white metal’s rally has been fueled by its dual appeal as both a financial and industrial asset, with prices briefly touching $71.85 per ounce and trading near $71.80, marking more than a 140% increase year-to-date.
The surge in silver prices is driven by a combination of macroeconomic factors and industrial demand. Investors are factoring in potential easing by the US Federal Reserve in 2026, while the metal continues to see strong use in electronics, solar panels, electric vehicles, and medical equipment. Robust inflows into silver ETFs and a strong short squeeze in October have further supported the upward momentum, highlighting the metal’s increasing prominence in global markets.
Despite technical indicators pointing to overbought conditions, investor appetite remains strong. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) for silver hovers around 80, signaling potential consolidation, yet demand continues unabated. Market strategists note that levels around $70 for silver are now viewed as reference points rather than ceilings, suggesting that silver’s bullish trend could remain well-supported into the year-end and holiday period.
