Significant Progress in Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, Track-Laying in Full Swing

The Ministry of Railways has shared a major update on India’s first Bullet Train project, highlighting the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor advancements. In a recently released video, the ministry showcased the rapid progress in track-laying work, a crucial milestone for the project that aims to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad drastically. This high-speed rail line is set to transform travel between these two major cities.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR), spanning 352 km, began construction in April 2020. According to the latest updates, the section through Gujarat is expected to be fully operational by 2027, with the first 50 km stretch between Surat and Bilimora slated to open in August 2026. This ambitious project highlights India’s commitment to modernizing its transport infrastructure.

The project is being executed with precision using advanced track-laying techniques to ensure timely completion. Once operational, the bullet train will cut travel time to just a few hours, revolutionizing transportation between Mumbai, India’s financial hub, and Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s largest city. The remaining section of Mumbai is projected to be completed by 2028.
