Disaster preparedness drill goes wrong; student losses life
A disaster preparedness drill conducted in a collage in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu has gone wrong, killing a female student study in the collage.
As per a media report, the trainer who has conducted the training session has pushed the girl from the second floor. It is believed that the girl’s head has accidentally hit the sunshade before she has fallen into the net, which has been placed in the ground in order to catch those fallen from the floors unharmed.
The trainer is said to have informed the police officials that he is an authorised trainer of the National Disaster Management Authority of India and the training session taken place in the collage has been organised by the NDMI. Meanwhile, a senior official of the NDMAI has, in this stage, dismissed such clams, saying that he is unaware about such a training session. He has also said that the programs of the NDMI usually happen with the permission of the District Collector.
It is to be noted that none of the collage officials including the principal has not yet commended about the accident. Anyway, the trainer is in the custody of the police. An investigation is on.
