Today, the Supreme Court of India is likely to decide the future of the Cauvery Water Dispute, which has been affecting the lives of people living in the South Indian states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala for several decades.

Ahead of the announcement of the verdict, both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have cancelled those inter-state public transport vehicles conducting services in these states.

Both states have already taken adequate measures to make sure that no violence breaks out in the vulnerable border regions, in which a large number of people belonging to these states reside.

Several times, in the past, the regions where Tamil Nadu and Karnataka share border witnessed severe violence and disturbance over the Cauvery issue.

In almost all incidents, the thing that faced severe injury was the public property, particularly the public transportation service vehicles.

From the precaution policies, it is clear that both states have successfully learned from their mistakes which they committed in the past.

The verdict on the appeals, which was failed by the three prominent South Indian states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala against the verdict declared by the Cauvery Water Tribunal in the year 2007, will be announced by a Special Bench of the top court led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
