Monsoon batters Himachal; state govt releases huge fund for relief activities

It seems that the monsoon has not yet retreated from the hilly states of our country. For the last forty-eight hours, Himachal Pradesh has been witnessing continuous rainfall across the state. On the wake of this situation, the state government has released huge funds for the relief activities. As per report, nearly forty-two crore rupee has been earmarked for the relief purpose. At the behest of the political executives, the senior permanent executives convened a meeting of concerned officials to deliberate the developments. It is said that the top officials directed the regional officials to restore the transport system and normal traffic, and deliver immediate relief to needy. Deputy Commissioners of the districts were directed to evacuate people from the river bed regions and to set up temporary relief camps, says the report. A national media reported that the continuing monsoon rain had triggered the landslide and affected normal life in several interior regions, particularly mountainous regions, of the state. It is evident from the MeT report that HP has experienced unequal distribution of rainfall across the state. Dharmasala received nearly 204 mm rainfall while Nahan only experienced around 17 mm rainfall. Notably, the preponderance of the regions, including Pondoh, Arki, Kheri, Gaggal, and Renuka, have received normal rainfall, ranging from 62 mm to 31 mm. Anyway, the MeT authorities forecasted continuous rainfall and thunderstorm for at least the next six days. However, the government authorities have taken strong measures to avert all possible threats.
