Jallikattu Out of Oscar Nominations

Jallikattu, a Malayalam language film, which received high acclaim for receiving an official Oscar nomination for the 93rd Oscar awards is now out of the list. Lijo Jose Pellissery’s directed film Jallikattu, was released in the year 2019 and is based on the short story Maoist by Hareesh. The plot follows a bull that escaped from a slaughterhouse in a hilly remote village and the entire village men gathering to hunt down and kill the animal. The film stars Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad and Santhy Balachandran.

It is the third Malayalam film after Guru and Adaminte Makan Abu to be chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars. The movie had been selected for the Best International Feature Film category. The final nominations for the Oscars will be announced on March 15 and the award gala will be held on April 25.
