Koo the Desi Alternative for Twitter

Koo is an opinion-sharing micro-blogging platform built for Indians to share their opinions in their mother tongue and have meaningful discussions. It was launched in March 2020 by a Bengaluru-based startup co-founded by Aprameya Radhakrishna, the CEO of the company.

Koo app won the Centre’s AatmaNirbhar App Innovation Challenge held in August 2020. Since the recently problem that rose in India with Twitter, many politicians and people are switching from Twitter to Koo. The social media app Koo supports Indian languages like Hindi, Malayalam, Telegu, Kannada, Tamil and Marathi. Other local languages are said to be added soon.

Famous personalities like Sadhguru, Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and former cricketers Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath have started an account on Koo. Government think-tank NITI Aayog has also opened an account on Koo.
