International Women’s Day: Telangana Declares Special Casual Leave For Women Employees On March 8

To honour International Women’s Day, which will be observed on March 8, the Telangana government has granted a special casual leave for female employees. On Monday, the General Administration (services welfare) department issued a directive to this effect. The directive, which was signed by the Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, instructed everyone involved to proceed as necessary.

The theme for International Women’s Day is focused on women each year. The UN International Women’s Day theme for this year is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” The Commission on the Status of Women’s (CSW-67) priority theme, “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.

International Women’s Day is a day dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of women, promoting gender equality and the need to remove social bias against women, as well as spreading awareness of women’s rights and violence against them.

The principle of equality between men and women was first affirmed in the United Nations Charter, which was adopted in 1945. The UN later held its first official International Women’s Day on March 8, 1975, during International Women’s Year.
