In Battle Of 2 Officers In Karnataka, “Private Pics” Posted On Facebook

Many in the Karnataka administration were surprised by a public altercation between two senior female bureaucrats, and the Basavaraj Bommai administration is at a loss for words.

Araga Jnanedra, the state’s home minister, issued a warning today after becoming enraged at what he described as two cops’ “poor behaviour.”

An IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer named Rohini Sindhuri’s personal images were uploaded on social media on Sunday by D Roopa Moudgil, an IPS (Indian Police Service) officer. She alleged that by emailing her images to male IAS officers, Rohini Sindhuri had broken the service conduct guidelines.

In a Facebook post, D Roopa claimed that Ms Sindhuri had shared the pictures with three IAS officers in 2021 and 2022.

D Roopa had published an extensive list of corruption charges against Ms. Sindhuri the day before. She asserted that she had also protested to Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai of Karnataka.

In a statement released on Sunday, an incensed Ms. Sindhuri claimed that D. Roopa was waging a “false, personal vilification campaign” against her and threatened to take legal action.

“She collected photos from social media and screenshots of (my) WhatsApp status to defame me. As she has alleged that I sent these pictures to some officials, I urge her to reveal their names,” Ms Sindhuri said.

She even referred to “mental illness” while hitting out at her adversary.

The police chief and the chief minister were both informed of the dispute, according to the home minister for Karnataka.

The Commissioner of the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment Department is Ms. Sindhuri, while D Roopa is the managing director of the Karnataka Handicrafts Development Corporation.

The conflict reportedly began after pictures of Ms. Sindhuri and Sa Ra Mahesh, a Legislator for the Janata Dal Secular, were circulated recently. When Ms. Sindhuri was transferred to Mysuru in 2021, the two engaged in a number of public arguments while accusing one another of wrongdoing.

“Mental illness is a huge problem, it needs to be addressed by medication and counselling. When it affects people in responsible positions, it becomes all the more dangerous. Roopa IPS has been driving false, personal vilification campaigns against me which is her standard modus operandi,” she alleged.
