The Election Commission’s flying squad and the Income Tax monitoring team has jointly conducted raids in Vellore in several locations connected to a senior DMK leader based in that part of the region.

Over 11.53 crore Indian rupees has been seized from the raids conducted in the Vellore region of Tamil Nadu by the concerned officials.

As per a media report, the latest raid has succeeded a failed attempt made by the same team in the region around few days before the day the successful raid has taken place.

The Vellore based DMK leader has alleged that it was a planned attempt to obstruct his party’s election-related activities in the region. He has also indirectly pointed out that with the raids those behind these have successfully gained what they have expected to achieve from these.

Meanwhile, the concerned officials have asserted that the raids were conducted after it had received a clear tip-off.

Certainly, the DMK leadership may not have a different opinion about the raids from that of its leader who has been affected by the latest raids.

Lately, like many other regional political parties, the DMK has alleged that the central government has misused the central agencies.
