For Queen Elizabeth II, India Declares State Mourning On Sunday

The Ministry of Home Affairs declared today that India will observe a day of official mourning on September 11 “as a show of respect” for the passing of Queen Elizabeth. She passed away a day ago, at the age of 96.

The government of India has decided that there will be one day of State Mourning on September 11th throughout India as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary. “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland passed away on the 8th September 2022,” the press release stated.

The National Flag will also be flown at half-mast on all buildings in the nation where it is normally flown. The government said that there would be no formal entertainment that day.
