FM Says Budget Can Handle Inflation Risks
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said there is no immediate need to revise the Union Budget, despite concerns over erratic monsoon conditions and rising global oil prices. She stated that the government has built sufficient financial buffers to absorb potential economic shocks.
According to the minister, inflation is being influenced by both external factors and unpredictable weather patterns. She noted that the impact of El Niño could affect crop irrigation, drinking water availability, and agricultural output, which may put upward pressure on food prices.
Sitharaman emphasized that the government remains prepared to manage these challenges and does not expect any adjustments to the current budget at this stage. She expressed confidence that the existing fiscal provisions are adequate to address inflationary and economic risks if they arise.
