Policeman Suspended After Protest Firing
Indian authorities have suspended a police constable after he fired an AK-47 into the air to disperse student protesters during demonstrations in Siwan, Bihar. Officials confirmed that no one was injured, but described the use of the assault rifle against students as unjustified and announced disciplinary action against the officer.
The protests are part of a nationwide movement that began after the leak of a national medical entrance examination paper, which affected more than two million students.
