Firms Target Tier-2 Youth to Boost Financial Literacy
Financial firms in India are increasingly focusing on Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities to expand financial literacy and bring more first-time investors into capital markets. With awareness still limited in smaller towns, companies are targeting younger audiences through campus outreach programs, aiming to build early engagement and long-term participation.
Industry leaders, including Hemant Sood of Findoc, highlight that while students in regions like Punjab show strong interest in investing, they often lack structured financial education. To address this, firms are shifting from theory-based teaching to practical learning, focusing on real-life topics such as budgeting, salary management, and long-term savings.
Digital tools and on-ground workshops are being combined to scale these efforts, with a clear emphasis on basics like compounding and risk management rather than complex strategies. As firms strengthen platforms and outreach, experts believe improved financial literacy in non-metro regions could significantly boost retail investor participation and support broader financial inclusion goals.
