Iyer Credits Team-First Mindset for Punjab’s Strong Start
Shreyas Iyer said Punjab Kings are focusing on internal competition rather than outside expectations, a mindset he believes has fueled their strong start in the Indian Premier League season. Punjab secured their second consecutive win by chasing down a 210-run target against Chennai Super Kings with ease.
Leading from the front, Iyer scored a quick half-century as Punjab’s aggressive top order dominated the chase at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. The captain emphasized that the team’s goal is to impress each other within the dressing room, which brings clarity and healthy competition among players.
Punjab’s batting depth has been a key factor, with multiple players contributing in both matches, boosting team confidence in pressure situations. However, Iyer acknowledged concerns over repeated slow over-rate penalties and said the team must address the issue quickly to avoid disadvantages late in games.
