Trent’s Revenue Growth Accelerates in Q4
Indian apparel retailer Trent reported a 20% year-on-year rise in standalone revenue for the fourth quarter, marking a rebound after recording its slowest growth in four years during the previous two quarters. The improvement comes amid stronger consumer spending following tax cuts introduced in late September, which increased disposable income across India.
The Tata Group-backed company has aggressively expanded its retail footprint, raising its total store count to 1,286 as of March 31, up from about 1,043 stores a year earlier. The expansion reflects Trent’s strategy to strengthen its presence and capture rising demand in the fast-fashion segment.
Trent, which operates popular fashion chains Zudio and Westside, plans to continue opening stores in smaller cities and towns, betting on consumption growth beyond major metro markets. The company’s standalone revenue, excluding tax, rose to 49.37 billion rupees in the quarter, compared with 41.06 billion rupees a year earlier.
