Engineers India Eyes Middle East Projects to Bypass Hormuz
Engineers India Ltd expects new business opportunities from infrastructure projects planned by the UAE and Saudi Arabia to reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz, which has been largely shut since the start of the Iran war.
The state-run engineering and consultancy company is in discussions with clients in both countries over planned oil infrastructure, including pipelines, oil terminals and marine facilities. Chairman Atul Gupta said the conflict has created new opportunities despite a slowdown in order inflows from the region.
Engineers India currently has an order book worth ₹170 billion ($1.77 billion) and expects it to grow as conditions in the Middle East improve. The UAE is also planning additional underground oil storage facilities in Fujairah. The company opened a Saudi Arabia office in February and already operates a branch in the UAE.
