Covid-19 Updates: India reports 6,561 fresh Covid-19 cases, total number of active cases to 77,152
According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 6,561 new Covid-19 cases and 142 related deaths in the last 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
With 14,947 patients discharged in the last 24 hours, the number of active infections was 8,528, bringing the total number of active patients to 77,152. According to the data, the death toll currently stands at 5,14,388.
Active cases account for 0.18 percent of total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has improved to 98.62 percent.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India reached nearly 178 crore on Wednesday. Until 7 p.m., more than 18 lakh (18,93,697) vaccine doses had been administered, and more than 2.02 crore precaution doses had been administered to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and those aged 60 and older with comorbidities.
On Wednesday, Delhi reported 325 new Covid-19 cases and one death, with a positivity rate of 0.81 percent. On Wednesday, Maharashtra reported zero Covid-19 deaths for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began in March 2020. The state recorded 544 fresh Covid-19 cases, and the Maharashtra government has eased Covid-19 restrictions even further, allowing shopping malls, restaurants, cinemas, and theatre halls in 14 districts, including Mumbai, to operate at full capacity.
In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M K Stalin announced further relaxations of the Covid-19 curbs in light of a decrease in the number of cases in the state and allowed a total gathering of 500 people for weddings and 250 for funerals. On Wednesday, the state received 320 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 34,50,041.
