British Airways Trainee Arrested For Hoax Bomb Call To SpiceJet Flight

An aspiring British Airways ticketing agent was detained yesterday for making a false bomb threat to a SpiceJet flight. The airlines had paused the departure and undertaken a careful search after receiving the call yesterday.
However, investigators did not discover anything unusual on the aircraft.

“Security officials thoroughly inspected it and did not find anything suspicious. The call was later declared as hoax,” SpiceJet spokesperson said.

To find the caller, Delhi Police formed a special team.

Yesterday at 6.30 p.m., the Delhi-Pune SpiceJet was supposed to leave the IGI Airport. A call concerning a bomb in the plane was made to the SpiceJet reservations office just before takeoff.

An airline spokeswoman said in a statement on Friday that the flight’s passenger boarding process had not yet begun at that point.

After receiving the call, the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay and carefully examined by security personnel.
