‘Alcohol ban should be withdrawn’; Opposition parties against the Bihar government

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been criticized for his role in the Nalanda hooch scandal. Hindustani Yuva Morcha leader and former chief minister Jithan Ram Manchi has demanded the lifting of the liquor ban in the state. The Hindustani Awam Morcha demanded that the ban on liquor in the state was a complete failure in the light of the current situation and therefore the law should be repealed.

Party spokesperson Danish Rizwan asked why the Bihar government could not repeal the anti-liquor law if the central government could repeal the agrarian laws. Withdrawal of the law should not be seen as a matter of pride. Selling fake liquor is a reality. The poor in every district die after eating it. Therefore, it should be reconsidered, he said.

BJP leader Arvind Kumar Singh has blamed officials’ negligence and bribery for not effectively banning liquor in Bihar. The fake liquor tragedy took place in Nalanda district on Saturday. Eleven people were killed.
