Zimmer Biomet to Hire 500 Employees as It Expands Bengaluru Technology Centre
Medical device manufacturer Zimmer Biomet has announced plans to hire 500 employees over the next three years for its newly established technology centre in Bengaluru, strengthening its presence in India. The recruitment will cover software engineering, product design, research and development, as well as quality, regulatory, finance, and other support functions. Company executives indicated that nearly two-thirds of the new roles will be focused on technology, with the potential for the workforce to grow significantly in the future.
The expansion reflects India’s growing importance as a global capability centre (GCC) for multinational healthcare companies. Firms including Novo Nordisk, AstraZeneca, and Eli Lilly already use their India operations for research and development, clinical data analysis, regulatory services, and technology innovation. Industry estimates suggest revenue from India’s GCC sector will continue to grow strongly, reinforcing the country’s position as a global innovation hub.
Zimmer Biomet, known for its orthopedic implants, robotic systems, and surgical solutions for musculoskeletal conditions, said the Bengaluru centre will play a key role in advancing innovation. The facility will focus heavily on artificial intelligence, with applications in robotics, surgical planning, and research and development. The company believes integrating AI into its products and development processes will accelerate innovation and improve outcomes for surgeons, healthcare teams, and patients worldwide.
