Uttar Pradesh Power Bills to Rise 10% in June as Fuel Surcharge Takes Effect
Electricity consumers across Uttar Pradesh will face a 10% increase in their June 2026 power bills after Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) approved a Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge (FPPAS). The surcharge is being introduced to recover higher power purchase and transmission costs incurred by utilities during March 2026.
UPPCL said the move is in line with the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Multi-Year Tariff Regulations, 2025, which allow additional fuel and power procurement expenses to be passed on to consumers after a three-month gap. The surcharge will apply uniformly to all consumer categories, including residential, commercial, and industrial users.
The utility has directed distribution companies to publish detailed surcharge calculations on their websites to maintain transparency. The increase comes amid rising energy costs driven by higher fuel prices and global market volatility, adding further financial pressure on households and businesses already facing increasing energy-related expenses.
