India Reduces Export Duties on Petrol, Diesel and Aviation Fuel from June 1
India has announced a reduction in export duties on petrol, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for the fortnight beginning June 1, 2026. The revised rates are part of the government’s regular review mechanism, which adjusts duties based on global fuel and crude oil prices.
Under the new structure, the export duty on petrol has been lowered to ₹1.5 per litre, while diesel exports will attract a duty of ₹13.5 per litre. The export duty on aviation turbine fuel has been set at ₹9.5 per litre.
The government stated that these rates are reviewed every two weeks and are linked to the average international prices of crude oil and refined petroleum products. There will be no change in the existing excise duty rates on petrol and diesel supplied for domestic consumption.
