Kohli Seals Bengaluru’s Back-to-Back IPL Triumph with Dream Finish
Virat Kohli scripted a fairytale finish as Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully defended their Indian Premier League title with a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the 2026 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Kohli remained unbeaten on 75 off 42 balls and sealed the win in style with a towering six, fulfilling a dream he had envisioned for years.
Unlike the emotional scenes that followed Bengaluru’s maiden IPL title last season, Kohli appeared calm and composed after the victory. The veteran batter reflected on the significance of winning consecutive championships, especially after the franchise’s long journey that included heartbreak in the 2009, 2011, and 2016 finals.
The 37-year-old once again proved his class throughout the tournament, finishing as Bengaluru’s highest run-scorer with 675 runs. Holding the record as the IPL’s all-time leading run-scorer with 9,336 runs, Kohli credited his continued success to adapting his game to the evolving demands of modern T20 cricket and constantly striving for improvement.
