UP Govt Pushes Wellness Tourism with New Incentives for Entrepreneurs
The Uttar Pradesh government has invited entrepreneurs, individuals, and institutions to set up Wellness Centres and Wellness Resorts under the Tourism Policy 2022, aiming to boost wellness tourism and create employment opportunities across the state. With people increasingly embracing natural healing and wellness-based lifestyles, the initiative seeks to position UP as a national hub for rejuvenation and holistic health by combining the state’s spiritual and cultural heritage with modern wellness practices.
As per the policy, Wellness Centres must offer a minimum of five therapy rooms focused on AYUSH-based treatments such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy. Wellness Resorts must be built on at least one acre of land and include twenty rooms along with dedicated therapy facilities. These projects are expected to enhance experience-driven tourism while promoting physical healing, mental peace, and mindful living among visitors.
The policy also integrates wellness tourism with UP’s spiritual destinations like Varanasi, Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, and Sarnath, among others. To attract investors, the government has rolled out multiple incentives including capital investment support, interest reimbursement, stamp duty exemptions, and employment-related assistance. An annual International Yoga Conclave will further strengthen UP’s position as a global wellness destination, supporting the state’s broader goal of diversifying tourism and boosting economic growth.
