Tokyo Paralympic: Indian medal haul; Sumit wins gold in javelin, world record

Sumit Anthil ‘throws’ second gold at Tokyo Paralympics for medal-winning India Sumit Antil won gold in the men’s javelin throw F64 category.

Sumit won the gold medal with a world record breaking distance of 68.55 meters in the javelin. This brings India’s total medal tally to seven. Today alone, India won five medals, including two gold, two silver and one bronze.

Avani Lekhara had earlier won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle category. Yogesh Katunia won silver in the men’s discus throw and Devendra Jazaria won silver in the javelin throw. The bronze went to Sundar Singh Gurjar in the javelin throw.
