Shilpa Shetty Tells Mumbai Police She Was Not Involved in Company Affairs in ₹60-Crore Fraud Case
Actor Shilpa Shetty informed the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) that she did not oversee the operations of Best Deal TV Private Limited, the company she co-founded with her husband, Raj Kundra. Her statement was recorded at her residence on October 4 during a four-hour questioning session in connection with a ₹60-crore cheating case. Shetty reportedly submitted supporting documents while asserting that she was only paid a celebrity endorsement fee for appearing on the company’s platform.
According to police officials, Best Deal TV Private Limited, a home shopping and online retail venture, has since been liquidated. The EOW is currently verifying the documents submitted by Shetty. Earlier, Raj Kundra’s statement was also recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case, registered at Juhu Police Station on August 14, alleges that Kundra and Shetty duped businessman Deepak Kothari of nearly ₹60 crore through a loan-cum-investment deal. A Look Out Circular had previously been issued against both Shetty and Kundra as the probe into the high-profile fraud case continues.
