Stalin Inaugurates AeroDefCon 2025 to Boost Tamil Nadu’s Aerospace and Defence Ambitions
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated AeroDefCon 2025, a three-day international conference on the aerospace and defence sector, at the Chennai Trade Centre on Tuesday. Organised by TIDCO, AIDAT, and France’s BCI Aerospace with support from the Ministry of Defence, the event aims to attract investments worth ₹75,000 crore in the sector by 2032. Over 300 companies and 1,000 delegates from 19 countries are participating, with more than 5,000 business-to-business meetings scheduled to strengthen global collaborations.
The state’s Defence Industrial Corridor has already attracted investments exceeding ₹23,000 crore, of which projects worth ₹5,000 crore have been implemented. Recent agreements with Cochin Shipyard and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders to establish shipyards worth ₹15,000 crore each are expected to generate over 60,000 jobs, cementing Tamil Nadu’s position as a major player in the coastal and defence manufacturing sectors.
Leading global and Indian aerospace giants including Airbus, Boeing, Dassault, Israel Aerospace Industries, Tata Group, HAL, BEL, and DRDO have set up pavilions at the expo. With the participation of premier educational and research institutions such as IIT Madras and Anna University, Industry Minister T. R. B. Rajaa announced that AeroDefCon will become a biennial event, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s vision of emerging as a $1 trillion economy driven by innovation in aerospace, defence, and shipbuilding.
