“Rahul Gandhi Will Become PM,” Said Seer At Karnataka Mutt. Then Came A Caveat

According to sources, a seer at a Lingayat seminary in Karnataka today predicted Rahul Gandhi would become prime minister before the head seer stepped in and added a condition to the prediction.

Rahul Gandhi will become the prime minister, one of the seers predicted in his talk while the Congressman was addressing them at Sri Murugarajendra Mutt in Chitradurga, according to sources. The institution’s head, Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, is reported to have intervened at this point and remarked, “Whoever visits our mutt, they be blessed.”

The Lingayats, who make up around 17% of Karnataka’s population, have historically supported the BJP. The Congress is aiming to widen its popularity and demonstrate unity within the party with Mr. Gandhi’s visit to the state that is close to voting. By May of the following year, the elections must be held.

Following the 2018 elections, the Congress, which had previously ruled from 2013 to 2018, briefly established a coalition government with the Janata Dal (Secular). That government, which was headed by JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy, fell in little more than a year after a number of coalition members withdrew, turning it into a minority. The BJP then retook control of the state.

BS Yediyurappa, a member of the Lingayat community, was appointed chief minister by the BJP at first. He was replaced the previous year by Basavaraj Bommai, a member of the same community.

A divide inside the Congress is causing difficulty. Siddaramaiah, the leader of the legislative party, and DK Shivakumar, the head of the state unit, are both candidates for the position of chief minister should the party win the election.

At a meeting of the political affairs committee for the state unit on Tuesday night, Rahul Gandhi attempted to address this by pleading with the leaders to cooperate and refrain from making public statements. The committee’s first gathering since it was established on July 9 was at that time. Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar, MB Patil, the head of the party’s campaign committee, Dinesh Gundu Rao, BK Hariprasad, and other prominent leaders like HK Patil, M Veerappa Moily, and G Parameshwara were also there in addition to Mr. Gandhi and Mr. Venugopal.
