Pinarayi 2.0 : Portfolios of new cabinet ministers

A formal announcement about the Ministers was yet to make by the CPI(M). Nevertheless, it was heard on the political grapevine that the party would nominate Veena George to take the place of KK Shailaja that is the Ministry of Health.

Ms. George said she had received no word about her responsibility. There were unconfirmed reports that the party was considering K. Balagopal to the post of Finance Minister.

According to some sources the Forest Department, conceded by the Communist Party of India (CPI), would go to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader A. K. Saseendran.

They said K. Radhakrishnan and Saji Cherian were in the reckoning as Devasom and Fisheries Ministers respectively. Industries Department might go to P. Rajeev and Local Bodies to M. V. Govindan.

The CPI has finalised its list of Ministers. K. Rajan will handle Revenue. G. R. Anil is the new Food and Civil Supplies Minister. Chinchu Rani will handle Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development. P. Prasad will hold the Agriculture department portfolio.

The CPI(M) State Secretariat was expected to issue a release on Cabinet formation soon.
