The Bengaluru outlet of One8 Commune, once associated with cricketer Virat Kohli, has been shut following a civil court order after the property owner claimed unpaid rent dues exceeding ₹2 crore along with pending maintenance and revenue share. The court directed that the premises remain closed until the outstanding payments are cleared.
The restaurant chain, operated by Trio Hills Hospitality, has strongly disputed the allegations, stating that the closure was driven by regulatory and compliance issues related to the building rather than financial defaults. It maintained that key safety requirements, which were the responsibility of the building owner, were not fulfilled.
The company further confirmed that operations at the Bengaluru location will not resume, calling media reports linking the shutdown to unpaid dues “misleading.” The outlet had also faced prior regulatory scrutiny, including issues related to fire safety clearances, operating hours violations, and a case under tobacco control regulations.
