Five soldiers were martyred in a terrorist clash

Five Indian soldiers, were martyred in a clash with terrorists at the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. Jawan H Vaishak from Kerala, Naib Subedar Jaswinder Singh from Punjab, Jawan Mandeep Singh, Jawan Gajjan Singh and Jawan Saraj Singh from Uttar Pradesh were martyred.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police checkpoint in the Surankot forest area on the border. The terrorists in hiding were firing at the soldiers. The seriously injured soldiers were rushed to hospital but could not be rescued. More troops rushed to the spot to catch the terrorists. Army sources said they were searching the area around the forest. One soldier was injured in another encounter 2 km away.

The terrorists had infiltrated into India a few days ago with a large cache of weapons from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan is trying to smuggle maximum number of terrorists across the border into India before the onset of winter. They are also receiving assistance from the Pakistan Army.
