Ola Electric Slashes Roadster X+ Price by ₹60,000 Amid Cost Efficiencies
Ola Electric Mobility Ltd on Thursday announced a significant price cut of ₹60,000 on its flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh, bringing its price down to ₹1,29,999 from ₹1,89,999. The reduction has been driven by improved cost efficiencies achieved through scaling production at its Gigafactory and deep vertical integration of its indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell. The company said these advancements have enabled it to pass on the benefits directly to customers.
The Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh, which offers a claimed range of up to 500 km, will now be available through limited, time-bound purchase windows instead of open sales. The first such window is scheduled from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on April 3, with future slots to be announced based on production capacity. Ola Electric noted that demand for the motorcycle has been exceptionally strong, particularly during its #EndICEAge campaign, with demand reportedly increasing more than fivefold.
The announcement comes amid a sharp recovery in the company’s business performance. Ola Electric reported over 150% month-on-month growth in registrations in March, reaching 10,117 units, while daily orders surpassed 1,000 units in the final week of the month. The company also highlighted a V-shaped recovery in market share, supported by improvements in service operations and customer experience, as it continues to scale up its battery production capacity toward 6 GWh.
