Kangana Ranaut reacts to Amitabh Bachchan deleting Dhaakad song promo after posting it: ‘Whose pressure will he have?’
Kangana Ranaut has stated that she will applaud a good film regardless of who directed it; she makes no distinctions between Vivek Agnihotri and Karan Johar, as she has made it a point to applaud their work when she believes it is deserved.
Kangana spoke about industry pressure and whether it prevents certain people from publicly praising her work in an interview with the YouTube channel Tried & Refused Productions.
“There are personal insecurities, they’re all trying to hide behind ‘Oh, we’ll get boycotted from the industry,” Kangana said, citing Amitabh Bachchan’s recent example of posting, then deleting, a promo for a song from her upcoming film Dhaakad. That isn’t it, in my opinion. Kiara noticed me and felt completely at ease; there was no pressure on her. Of course, there are likes and dislikes, but this trailer is so striking that Mr Bachchan tweeted it and then deleted it within five to ten minutes. Whose pressure will he feel from someone of his stature? I’m not sure, I find this situation a little complicated.”
“I don’t think it’s just the powerful people in the industry,” she continued, “but somewhere, there’s a lot of personal insecurity.” Why don’t these actors support me and my work? It can’t be due to a single powerful person. Especially since it is such an important film for women. It has the potential to unleash a flood of films that will provide us with numerous opportunities.”
Dhaakad is a spy thriller directed by Razneesh Ghai, with Arjun Rampal playing the villain. Dhaakad, Kangana said in the same interview, is a “bigger” film than Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which is also out on the same day but has a wider release. She expressed the hope that word of mouth will lead to an increase in theatre attendance in the coming days.
