Kangana as Jayalalithaa; ‘Thalaivi’ to theaters, release date announced

Tamil movie ‘Thalaivi’ about the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha is going to hit theaters. The release date of the film has been announced by the producers after the Tamil Nadu government gave permission to open theaters with 50 per cent access. The movie will hit theaters on September 10.

The first announced release date of the film, which started shooting in November 2019, was April 23 this year. But with Covid closing theaters in the second wave, the release was postponed indefinitely. Arvind Swamy will play the role of MGR in the film directed by AL Vijay. Nasser will play the role of Karunanidhi. The film also stars Bhagyashree, Samudrakani, Raj Arjun, Madhubala, Thampi Ramaiah, Poorna and Bharat Reddy.

However, despite getting permission to open theaters, most of the theaters in Tamil Nadu are not open today. The theater owners’ reaction was that they could not do it because they did not have enough time, including cleaning. The theater owners have announced that 80 major screens in Chennai will be opened on Thursday.
