Jailed Delhi Minister Massaged By Man Accused Of Raping His Child
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAPclaim )’s that these were “physiotherapy sessions” has been refuted by sources who claim that the “masseur” in the video is actually a prisoner who is accused of raping his own daughter, adding a new twist to the controversy over the viral videos of Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain receiving massages in jail.
In response to the new information, the BJP called on Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to apologise, and claimed Satyendar Jain shouldn’t continue in his role as a minister “for a minute more.”
According to official sources at Tihar Jail, the prisoner accused of rape under the strict Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) statute who is seen massaging the AAP minister in the security cameras is Rinku. After his daughter, a student in class 10, accused him of beating her, he was detained last year.
In the lead-up to the Delhi civic elections next month, there is a heated argument between the AAP and the BJP over the CCTV videos, which are dated September 13, 14, and 21.
The tapes emerged days after the Enforcement Directorate said that Mr. Jain, who was detained in connection with a case of money laundering, had preferential treatment while being held in Tihar Jail. In addition to Sandeep Goel, director general of prisons, at least 12 other staff members of Tihar jail were transferred as a result of the “VIP treatment” claim.
Although it’s against jail policy, Mr. Jain was observed receiving massages and conversing with others while sitting in his cell. Additionally, officials indicated that physical treatment sessions are not permitted in a prisoner’s cell.
AAP leaders claimed Mr. Jain was receiving physiotherapy for a spinal injury as the videos went viral, supporting the BJP’s demand to have the minister released from Tihar Jail.
“Satyendar Jain should not remain a minister for a minute more. If Arvind Kejriwal is too weak to dismiss Satyendar Jain, then he should resign as Chief Minister. He should apologise to the nation,” said the BJP’s Gaurav Bhatia.
BJP leaders also put out tweets targeting AAP. Even on Monday, Arvind Kejriwal vehemently denied the BJP’s charge that his minister received VIP treatment, sticking to his “physiotherapy, not massage” defence.
On the sidelines of his campaign in Gujarat’s Vadodra, Mr. Kejriwal told reporters, “They are calling it a massage and VIP treatment, but it’s just physiotherapy.”
Since June, Mr. Jain has been incarcerated. Last Monday, a Delhi court rejected his application for release.
