Indian Refiners Secure Oil Supplies Amid Iran Conflict
Indian refiners have secured sufficient crude oil supplies through at least August despite disruptions linked to the Iran conflict. To strengthen energy security, refiners have increased purchases from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and other global suppliers in recent weeks.
Industry sources said Indian companies have also built up liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) inventories, with supplies expected to remain adequate through mid-July. ADNOC has been offering crude and LPG cargoes through multiple loading points and ship-to-ship transfer arrangements across the Gulf region.
State-run refiners, including Hindustan Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation, and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals, have expanded spot purchases from the UAE, Brazil, West Africa, and other regions. The diversification follows disruptions to Middle East shipping routes earlier this year, prompting India to seek alternative crude sources to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies.
