India Urged to Stay Calm Against England’s Power Game in T20 World Cup Semi-final

India will need composure and clarity to overcome England’s aggressive batting strength in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final, according to bowling coach Morne Morkel. Speaking ahead of the clash at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Morkel highlighted England’s attacking approach as a major challenge, stressing that the team which manages pressure and adapts quickest to conditions will likely secure victory. India are aiming to become the first side to successfully defend a T20 World Cup title.

The semi-final marks the third consecutive tournament in which India and England meet at this stage, with both teams having won one encounter each previously. Morkel noted that India’s strength lies in collective performances rather than relying on a perfect game plan. Training sessions saw players refining skills, with leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy focusing on rhythm and confidence, while Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh spent time sharpening their batting ahead of the high-stakes match.

Sanju Samson’s recent match-winning innings against West Indies has boosted India’s top-order confidence, though Abhishek Sharma remains under pressure after a lean run of scores. Morkel backed the young batter, calling the semi-final an opportunity for redemption and growth. The winner of the contest will progress to the final, where South Africa or New Zealand await following their semi-final encounter.
