India Poised to Lead the Global AI Revolution, Says NSE Chief
NSE CEO Ashish Chauhan believes India is on track to become the biggest winner in the global AI race, thanks to the rapid democratisation of the technology. He noted that while the US has long led AI innovation through heavy investments and powerful hardware, new open-weight AI models emerging from China and other nations are challenging that dominance.
Chauhan argued that these cost-effective models are proving just as capable, disrupting the belief that only deep-pocketed tech giants can shape the future of AI. With the technology advancing faster than anyone can control or fully comprehend, opportunities are expanding for countries like India that excel in large-scale adoption and innovation.
Drawing parallels with India’s success in the IT boom—despite not inventing core technologies—Chauhan said India’s skilled talent pool and adaptability position it strongly for the next 20–30 years. He urged policymakers and industry leaders to collaborate and also prepare for the growing convergence of AI and robotics, where global competition is already accelerating.
