The patient, nurse and helper who were in the ambulance got into an accident and fell on the road due to the impact.
The accident took place at Byndur Shirur toll booth in Udupi. The ambulance was carrying a patient from Sridevi Hospital in Udupi. The road was slippery due to heavy rain. The national media reports that the ambulance lost control while it was moving to avoid hitting the cows lying on the road. The ambulance driver was also seriously injured in the accident.

It is understood from the CCTV footage of the tollbooth that the ambulance lost control due to water logging on the road due to heavy rain. In the video, the staff of the toll gate remove the barricades as soon as the siren of the vehicle is heard so as not to obstruct the speeding ambulance.
Before crossing the gate, the ambulance overturned on the wet road. As a result of the impact, three people, including the patient, fell on the road through the back door of the ambulance. The ambulance fell on top of them and hit the toll employee.
