Flipkart CFO Exits Ahead of India IPO

Flipkart, the Walmart-owned Indian e-commerce giant, announced that group CFO Sriram Venkataraman will step down, with the CFO of its marketplace unit, Ravi Iyer, taking over a temporary broader finance role. Venkataraman, who joined Flipkart in 2015, will remain with the company during a transition period, though the timeline for his departure was not specified.

The leadership change comes as Flipkart prepares for its India IPO and recently shifted its holding company from Singapore to India. Flipkart, founded in 2007 and valued at around $37 billion in 2024, competes with Amazon and has Walmart as its controlling stakeholder since a $16 billion acquisition in 2018.

In addition to the finance leadership changes, Nishant Verman, who had previously been involved in Walmart’s acquisition of Flipkart, has returned as senior vice president for corporate development and partnerships, signaling a focus on strategic growth and market positioning ahead of the IPO.
