Famous South Indian singer Kalyani Menon passed away

Famous South Indian singer Kalyani Menon has passed away at the age of 80. She was admitted to the hospital four days ago following a stroke.

She has sung many hit songs sung by famous music directors in Malayalam and Tamil. After making a name for herself as one of the best singers in the classical music scene, she came to the film industry. She made her film debut in Ramu Kariyat’s ‘Dweep’.

Kalyani Menon has sung many songs with AR Rahman in the 90s. The Asianet title song ‘Syama Sundara Kerakedara Bhoomi’ sung by Kalyani Menon and Sujatha was very popular. Popular songs include Pavanarachchezhuthunnu Kolangalennu, Ritubhedakalpana and Jalashayyayil. She has also sung in films like Hamsa Geetham, Sujatha, Pourusham, Kahalam, Kudumbam, Namukku Sreekovil and Bhaktahanuman. Her is the renowned advertising director Rajeev Menon. Her body will be cremated at the Chennai Basant Nagar Electric Cemetery at 2 pm tomorrow.
