Europe Emerges as Top Choice for Indian Students
Indian students are increasingly choosing European universities over the United States, attracted by lower tuition fees, affordable living costs, and improved post-study opportunities. The India-EU trade agreement has made Europe more appealing by offering easier visa pathways, better recognition of Indian qualifications, and clearer routes to employment after graduation.
Education consultants report a sharp rise in enquiries for countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Portugal as students seek destinations that align with their career goals. Growing concerns over stricter immigration policies, rising education costs, and tougher visa rules in the U.S., Canada, and the UK have also contributed to this shift.
Despite challenges such as language barriers, housing shortages, and competitive job markets, Europe is steadily gaining popularity among Indian students. Experts believe the new India-EU mobility framework could significantly increase student and skilled worker movement over the next few years, strengthening educational and economic ties between India and Europe.
