Indian Employees Lead Global Optimism on AI Adoption: Randstad
Indian employees are significantly more optimistic about artificial intelligence than their global counterparts, with 89% saying AI has boosted their productivity, compared with a global average of 62%, according to Randstad’s Workmonitor 2026 report. The survey, which covered more than 27,000 workers across 35 markets, also found Indian employees displaying the highest confidence in using new technology, with 86% comfortable adopting the latest tools.
However, the report highlights a notable perception gap between employees and employers. While 84% of Indian workers believe AI will impact a large share of their tasks, only 55% of employers share that view. Additionally, 59% of Indian employees feel AI adoption will mainly benefit companies rather than workers, exceeding the global average of 47%, pointing to concerns over how gains from automation will be distributed.
Indian workers also stood out for their optimism about business growth and workplace trust. About 79% expect their organisations to grow in the coming year, far higher than the global average of 51%, while trust in leadership and colleagues remains strong. The survey also showed a shift in priorities, with work-life balance emerging as the top reason Indian employees stay in their current roles, ahead of pay and job security, as many independently seek to future-proof their skills in an increasingly AI-driven job market.
