Making the two top Indian political parties –the Congress Party and BJP- wait impatiently on the starting line of the great political game, the Election Commission has officially announced the dates for the most awaited Gujarat Assembly Election.

According to the media report, the two-phase election will take place on December 9 and December 14.

There are nearly one hundred and eighty-two seats in the Gujarat State Assembly. In the first phase, the elections for around eighty-nine seats will happen. In the second phase, the elections for the remaining seats (that is, for around ninety-three seats) will take place.

The election schedule has been formally publicised by the Chief Election Commission, A K Joti, in a media conference.

The peculiarity of this election is that ‘the election commission is planning to introduce a grievance redressal system in which those having complaints can file it through the mobile app’.

It is said that some strict security measures such as CCTV surveillance and webcasting will be used in this election in order to make the whole process more transparent.

As per the report, the ceiling of expenditure for each candidate has been limited to around twenty-eight lakh rupees.
